Sciton BBL Hero

“BBL” or Broad Band Light is a light based therapy used to treat skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, redness, uneven skin tone or discoloration on the face, neck and other areas of the body. This treatment may also help with rosacea, discoloration of scarring and aids in the production of collagen to improve the skins tone and texture.

The Sciton BBL treatment at VEI Aesthetic Center is customizable to our patients individualized skin concerns.
BBL treatment is often referred to as the “lunch break treatment” meaning you may be red and flushed but you will be able to return back to work.

BBL treatment not only removes brown and red spots but also helps produce collagen, helping with smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Because of the minimal downtime you are able to do this treatment regularly. We recommend quarterly treatments to maintain results and give the skin a more youthful glowy appearance.

Who is the Right Candidate for BBL HERO?

You could benefit from the Sciton BBL HERO laser treatment at VEI Aesthetic Center if you are unhappy with signs of aging in your skin, sun damage, age spots, red spots or rosacea, uneven skin tone and are desiring a healthy youthful complexion. If you would like improvement to your skin’s pigmentation, elasticity and firmness you may benefit from the Sciton BBL HERO treatment. Before your Sciton BBL HERO treatment, your provider will assess your skincare concerns and develop an individualized treatment plan for your particular case.

Your provider may recommend that you consider other treatments, like Sciton HALO, a laser peel or Sculptra treatments, in conjunction with your BBL HERO treatment to achieve optimal results.

BBL HERO Procedure and Recovery

Prior to your Sciton BBL HERO® Laser Treatment you will come in for an initial consult so that we may discuss your skin concerns and develop a treatment plan that will give you the best results. At this time your provider may complete a test spot area to help determine settings for your treatment. Once a treatment plan is established your provider will review all of your individualized pre-treatment and post-treatment instruction and you may schedule your appointment.

It is important that you protect your skin with sunscreen and avoid over exposure to the sun prior to your appointment as well as after your treatment. If you arrive to your appointment with a sun burn or suntan your provider will not be able to complete your treatment and you will need to reschedule. Your provider may also advise you to stop certain skincare products or may prescribe you an anti-viral medication if you have a history of cold sores.

Although your provider will always cleanse and sanitize treatment areas prior to your BBL session, we advise you to please remove makeup and skincare products before arriving to your appointment.

During your BBL treatment, you will be provided with protective eye wear. You may see harmless flashes of lights and a warm sensation during your treatment often compared to the feeling of a mild rubber band snapping.

For several hours your skin may be red like a mild sunburn and you may experience some mild bruising or swelling that will subside shortly. Areas that were treated may become more red or darker, this is normal.This can look like coffee grounds over the face and is to not be picked at or exfoliated. This is the pigment coming to the surface and will slough off naturally in a week or two.

Please refer to your post treatment instructions on sun safety. Your skin is very sensitive to sunlight following BBL treatment and it is important you protect your skin with sunscreen and avoid excessive sun exposure.

For optimal results with BBL we recommend initially 3 sessions spaced out 4 weeks apart followed by quarterly treatments. We will also help you establish a good skincare routine to maintain your skin health.
